NO MORE VESSELS: The Cry of Heaven for Consecrated Vessels

And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. ”
2 Kings 4:6 KJV
A Call to Consecration, Purity and Divine Approval
Some years ago, I was invited to minister at a Workers' Conference on the subject, “WHY REVIVAL TARRIES.” While waiting upon the Lord for His word, particularly concerning consecration, I heard a striking statement in my spirit:
“NO MORE VESSELS!”
I wondered what the Lord meant. The statement appeared ironic, considering the multitude of believers and ministers across the nation and different denominations. We have gifted teachers, eloquent preachers, pastors, apostles, bishops and evangelists. We have men and women who demonstrate remarkable talents, spiritual gifts, great oratory and public influence. Yet, the Lord's response was: “NO MORE VESSELS!”
The words of 2 Kings 4:6 came strongly to mind. When there were no more empty vessels, the oil ceased.
This revelation has remained a burden in my heart.
THE FAMINE OF TRUE VESSELS
We live in a generation that celebrates acclaimed spiritual knowledge, revelations, manifestations, breakthroughs and material possessions, often mistaking these for evidence of divine approval. Yet, beneath this apparent abundance lies a disturbing reality: spiritual starvation.
There are churches everywhere, preachers on every platform and teachers of the Word in every corner. Yet, the genuine Word of God, rightly divided and faithfully communicated through consecrated vessels, is becoming increasingly scarce.
The Scripture declares:
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.” — **Amos 8:11 (KJV)*
The problem is not necessarily the absence of religious activities or religious voices, but the scarcity of approved vessels through whom God's undiluted truth can be communicated.
WHEN WORDS ARE MANY BUT GOD HAS NOT SENT THE SPEAKER
We see teachers and prophets commanding visibility, demonstrating knowledge, eloquence and seemingly profound revelations. Their words may sound attractive, their expressions persuasive and their messages appealing. Yet, the Lord warns against those who speak without His commission.
“I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.” — Jeremiah 23:21 (KJV)
Peter further warns that false teachers, through covetousness and feigned words, make merchandise of people (2 Peter 2:1–3). They speak great swelling words of vanity (2 Peter 2:18), while Paul warns against those who deceive hearts through good words and fair speeches (Romans 16:18).
The tragedy is that religious activities and impressive sermons can abound while genuine transformation into the image and character of Christ remains absent.
GOD'S STANDARD HAS NOT CHANGED
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” — 2 Timothy 2:19 (KJV)
God's standard remains sure. It cannot be negotiated, compromised or adjusted to accommodate the preferences of any generation.
Talent does not equal consecration. Spiritual gifts do not automatically establish divine approval. Eloquence, popularity, influence, public acceptance and spectacular manifestations are not substitutes for holiness and obedience.
Even Satan can transform himself into an angel of light, and his ministers can disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13–15).
Therefore, the display of signs, wonders, eloquence or apparent spirituality is not sufficient evidence of divine authenticity. Jesus Himself warned that false Christs and false prophets would arise with great signs and wonders, seeking to deceive even the elect (Matthew 24:24).
God is not merely looking for gifted vessels; He is looking for consecrated vessels.
THE REFINING OF THE VESSEL
The vessels approved for God's use must first submit themselves to His refining process. They must be purged of sin, self, pride, fleshly ambitions and every competing affection.
Malachi 3:3 reveals the Lord as a refiner and purifier of silver. This refining process is not always convenient, comfortable or appealing to the flesh, but it is essential for those who will carry His life and communicate His truth.
Paul gives us this instruction:
“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.” — 2 Timothy 2:21 (KJV)
Until we carry His life, we cannot faithfully communicate His message in its fullness. God's approved vessels must reflect the righteousness, holiness, love, character and doctrines of Christ (Eph. 4:20–24, 1Tim.3:1-7, Titus 1:7-9 ).
It is possible to carry a Bible without carrying its message, preach Christ without reflecting His character, and demonstrate spiritual gifts without submitting to His government.
The question, therefore, is not merely whether you are gifted, but whether you are purified and approved for the Master's use.
#JESUS CHRIST: THE PATTERN OF DIVINE APPROVAL*
Jesus Christ remains our perfect example of a life fully surrendered to the Father.
Peter declared Him to be a man approved of God through miracles, wonders and signs (Acts 2:22). His earthly ministry was characterised by complete obedience and submission to the Father's will.
He did not pursue personal pleasure, convenience, ambition or selfish gain. His consuming desire was to fulfil the will of the Father.
What about us?
Do we still prioritise our interests, comfort, personal ambitions, financial gains and public recognition above the pleasure of the Master?
Can we surrender our preferences when they conflict with His will? Can we obey when obedience attracts no applause? Can we remain faithful when there is no platform, recognition or immediate reward?
Divine approval begins with a life yielded to God.
WHO WILL GO FOR US?
Is it not remarkable that, despite the multitude of professing believers and self-acclaimed ministers across the globe, the call of Heaven remains:
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” — **Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)**
God is still seeking men and women who will represent Him faithfully on earth.
Isaiah's encounter in Isaiah 6:1–9 reveals a profound pattern: an encounter with God's holiness, an awareness of personal unworthiness, divine cleansing and subsequent commissioning.
Before Isaiah could say, “Here am I; send me,” his lips had to be touched with the purifying coal from the altar.
**The altar of consecration precedes the platform of commission.**
God is not simply looking for people who are willing to go; He is looking for people who have first allowed Him to deal with their hearts.
A PERSONAL EXAMINATION: ARE YOU A VESSEL OF HONOUR?
Beloved, this is not a call to examine other ministers or pronounce judgment on the Church. It is first a call for personal examination before the Lord.
- Are you washed in the blood of Jesus?
- Are you purged of self, pride and fleshly ambitions?
- Are you refined by the dealings of the Holy Spirit?
- Are you submitted to the authority of God's Word?
- Does your private life reflect the Christ you publicly proclaim?
- Are you a vessel of honour, sanctified and prepared for the Master's use?
Heaven is not short of gifted people; the challenge is the availability of consecrated vessels who meet God's standard of approval. If you must be an aooroved vessel in the hands if the Master, know that “The altar of consecration precedes the platform of commission.”
The Lord is seeking vessels through whom His Word, Life, Power and Glory can be faithfully revealed to generations.
Our prayer is that the Lord will Make us ABLE MINISTERS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, not merely in words, but in the Spirit, life and character of Christ.
In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
